Grinning from Ear to Ear

Have you ever spent ages holding up..... big earrings, small earrings, dangle earrings, drop earrings, earrings with beads, earrings with gemstones, earrings with feathers, silver earrings, gold earrings, hoop earrings, studs, so on and so on ? ...and... in front of a tiny mirror with lots of other people trying to do exactly the same thing...phew... then you'll know what frustration is. A few tips to help you decide which earrings might suit. What shape is your face?

Round - choose earrings to lengthen your face, dangle earrings, drop earrings -maybe these Karo Earrings

Heart - choose earrings that are wider at the bottom to balance out your sharp chin, chandelier earrings, teardrop earrings like these Phoenix Earrings

Square - go for slightly longer earrings, rounder earrings, earrings that have round edges to soften your face, maybe the Lunar Earrings

Upside Down Triangle -  similar to heart shape but shorter so chandelier earrings & teardrop earrings to give the effect of widening your chin, the Love Bird Earrings would be great

Oval - you're lucky you can wear almost any shape but you most probably have lovely cheekbones so maybe some simple stud earrings or earrings with a drop triangular shape like the Art Deco Earrings

Of course, all round for any face, if you just need something simple or delicate & just maybe catches the light & the eye, then stud earrings are great for that. The Swallow Stud Earrings & Small Dragonfly Stud Earrings are really perfect & for something a little less detailed then there's the Decor Stud Earrings.

Madeleine has just added a new earring design to her collection - Amazonia Earrings - a beautiful handmade drop earring design, made of gold plate on brass, with a gold leaf design on the ear stud & beautiful Green druzy & Black druzy stones. Madeleine's eye for nature & the ancient arts is really showing here - beautiful & very unusual drop earrings.

When Madeleine left art college she did a fair amount of travelling around South America & ended up settling in Mexico for a couple of years, where she learnt silver-smithing & the art of jewellery design. You can still see the influence of the South American cultures in this new earring design. Her use of gem stones & the mix of silver & gold give the designs her unique signature. G&B's earring designs offer a fantastic range of moods, style & price. Whether you're looking for a pair of earrings for the everday, but that still has a little twist away from the ordinary or you're looking for earrings that say something immediately & that will set off say, a formal, traditional little black number for the evening or something much grander - there's a whole range of earrings to suit every occasion.

All our earring designs are for pierced ears, but if you see an earring that you really like, please contact us, as quite often, we'll be able to change the back to a clip on. This is dependent to a certain degree on the design, but always ask us first !

If you're looking for earrings that match a pendant or combine really well, we have a few designs that suit. Firstly there is the Goddess Necklace & matching earrings as seen here & appear on our banners for each gemstone collection. They're real statement pieces & look fantastic for the evening with a low neckline & maybe the hair up !

As well as Moonstone, these designs also come in Rough Ruby, Rough Emerald, Blue Topaz & Amethyst. Maddy is continually updating her designs but there are some signature classics that she keeps making because they're so popular.

Madeleine will be showing again in January at Showcase Ireland 2021- Ireland's major showcase for the best of Irish design. Previous years the show has always been at the Royal Dublin Society but because it's not possible at the present time, 2021 will be a virtual show.
